Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025. We believe student academic records should remain strictly private.

1. Overview & Fundamental Privacy Commitment

At GPAPath (accessible from https://gpapath.com), protecting the privacy of our visitors is one of our highest priorities. This Privacy Policy documents the types of information we process and how we protect your personal data.

Core Guarantee: All academic data—including course names, letter grades, credit hours, cumulative grade point averages, and target planning goals—is processed entirely inside your local web browser using client-side JavaScript. This data is never transmitted across the internet to our web servers, never stored in any cloud database, and never sold to third parties.

2. Local Storage & Cookies

GPAPath uses browser localStorage solely for your convenience to:

  • Preserve your UI theme preference (Light or Dark mode) between page visits.
  • Allow you to save your own custom course list or scale definitions locally on your device if you choose.

You can clear this local data at any time through your browser's history and storage settings or by clicking the "Reset" button on any calculator.

3. Web Analytics & Server Logs

Like standard modern websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) generates basic technical server log files. These include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser user-agent types, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps for DDoS mitigation, load balancing, and server security. These logs contain zero identifiable academic data.

4. Third-Party Links & Services

Our website may contain links to external educational sites or university catalogs. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that external site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us, and we strongly advise you to review their respective privacy policies.

5. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

GPAPath is safe for middle school and high school students of all ages because we do not collect, request, or store personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or physical locations.

6. GDPR and CCPA Compliance

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), users have rights regarding their data. Because GPAPath does not collect or retain personal user profiles, transcripts, or personal identification on our backend servers, your data remains fully in your possession on your personal device at all times.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect technological improvements. We will notify visitors of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.
